Eggs and Watermelons, oh my!

I received these images in an e mail and thought they were so incredible I wanted to share them. Unfortunately, there was no source listed so I am hoping they are public domain images. These beautiful and intricate eggs were cut with a laser. I can't even imagine the talent it takes to do this type of art work on something as fragile as an egg shell. Enjoy!

  1. Kaye, someone sent these to me in an email. So, I get the fruit carving. But the egg shells??? Is that laser? Amazing!

  2. one of the lunch ladies at our kids school (many years ago) raised ostriches. Her husband would make these same gorgeous carvings in their eggshells. I know he started by "blowing" the egg clean leaving the shell intact. The shell sat for awhile to harden and dry. I'm thinking he carved them by hand with some kind of tool. They are amazing.

  3. Those are so gorgeous!! I've seen some like these before. I have paper that has been laser cut and that's beautiful. I can't imagine what the egg and watermelon are like. Hand carving would be harder and not quite as precise as laser.

  4. The egg seems too delicate for me, but those watermelons are breath-taking! Forget ice sculptures, I want watermelons as party decorations!

  5. Awesome! I've seen the watermelon carvings on a Food Network show awhile ago, but I've never seen that type of artwork on an egg shell. Amazing.

  7. Someone gave me a little tiny painted half egg shell when I was little and inside the shell was a miniature teddy bear. I treasured that thing - wondered forever how they painted such beauty on a delicate surface and decorated the inside with care. Of course I broke the thing - being a kid and all - handling it without enough care. But I still displayed the crumpled shell on my shelf for a long time.
