Heeey ! What the ??? . . . . . .
Do you ever look forward to a day and eagerly plan for it? Seriously, I mean, you get up early and you even have lists. You can feel the anticipation building. And then . . .
Well, I've done it again. Not exactly a day late and a dollar short scenario . . . . this time I was early. Yeah, like a whole week early. But I was ready. Last night I went through my read list and then my wish list for authors and made another list of authors to look for at the County Library's annual sale. I had cash in my hand, comfy stand- in -line shoes on and a big empty canvas bag. They advertised over 65,000 books and I know quite a few had my name on them. Last time we came home with close to 100 books. Yes, we are crazy! Knowing that there is always a line, I left early and when I got to the auditorium, I had a sinking feeling. No cars in the parking lot, no people in line at the door. Oh, oh, now what? So I cruise past the sign and it boldly states ~ Library booksale Oct 2-6th. Hello, it's still September.
Hubby looked mighty surprised when I came home so soon with an empty bag. I reminded him of the Greek Festival we went to only to find it was the next week. But you can bet that next Tuesday I'll be more than ready for $3 a bag day! After all, I've even got my list ready. Sheeesh! At least I got to the post office and mailed off The Year of the Flood to Jemima, the contest winner.
Does anyone else ever do this or is it just me?And what did you do today? Anything exciting?

LOL.....well, this year I almost forgot to go to our library's annual sale! Luckily, my hubby had asked me to pick up something in town for him that day, and when I drove by the library I saw the sign!!!! My youngest son and I had less than a half hour before we had to be home, but we used our time wisely and managed to pick up a couple of new ones for the collection. Have fun next week!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! too many times.
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I'm usually the one who's late, not early.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckle! I have nightmares that I get my appearances mixed up and go to the wrong place...
ReplyDeleteKaye - poor you. I bet you were a little upset. Never mind, you will be completely organised for next week. I would love to go to a sale like that.
ReplyDeleteReminded me that we have a Library booksale coming up, must make a note and go there at once ;)
ReplyDeleteI did that last year at our sale - I was one day early! ...which I thought was infinitely superior to being one day late!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not laughing at you I'm laughing with you! Let us know what you get next week!
ReplyDeleteRest assured you are not alone!! I got halfway to my library on Saturday only to realize that I left my purse at home....I barely had enough gas to get home!!! because I was planning on getting gas after the library visit!!!
ReplyDeleteAt least the sale wasn't LAST week!
ReplyDeleteOnly a few days ago since the last time. I got up earl. I got there at a good time. I went right to the same place I went last year. Notghing happening. I looked for signs in the area. Nothing. I went to the main entrance. Big sign at the front desk: FLU SHOTS OCTOBER 5.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have a problem with daylight savings time sometimes but I've never shown up that early to an event!! This totally cracked me up!!! And however do you transport home 100 books? Do you go back and forth to your car multiple times? I guess you would have to! Can't wait to see what you get once you do get to go!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL....Better early than late right??? Hope you get a lot of good books.
ReplyDeleteI'm busy cleaning my shelves as there are a few book sales around here too in October.
A week early? I NEVER do that kind of thing, but a week late . . .
ReplyDeletelol I've done things like that. But $3 a bag for books! I really look forward to your post about the sale. Have fun and I want to hear every detail.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny. The sale sounds like it is worth going early for - just to be first in line. Well, maybe not a week early though. I like how you used your otherwise empty day - mailing Atwood's book to me! I will be on the lookout.
