Show Me 5 Saturday: The Treasures of Venice by Loucinda McGary

Alipet813 at That's a Novel Idea has started a new MEME called Show Me Five Saturday. This meme will give each blogger an opportunity to give a brief description of a book they have read or reviewed during the week. It will work like this: Each Saturday you will post the answer to these questions. The number indicates the number of answers you will provide.

1. Title of book you read or reviewed this week: The Treasures of Venice by Loucinda McGary
2. Words that describe the book:
Romance, Intrigue
3. Settings where it took place or characters you met:
Set in Venice, Italy.
Samantha: Indiana librarian whose fiance just dumped her, travels to Venice to show him she can be fun and spontaneous. What she finds in Venice is an adventure and love she had never thought was possible.

Kiernan: Silver tongued charmer who is on a mission to find his kidnapped sister and the Jewels of the Madonnas. His mission becomes keeping Samantha.
4. Things you liked and/or disliked about it:
I loved the setting; rich descriptions transported me right into the scene.
Two concurrently running plot lines centuries apart; one in the present with characters who may be the reincarnation of the characters from 1485 time line.
The intrigue and adventure of the characters', main and minor, dangerous search for the jewels from renaissance Venice.
The smoldering hot love story between Samantha and Kiernan
5. Stars or less for your rating: 4 ****
Note: I really enjoyed this one more than I thought I would due to the book having one of "those" covers. I read this one in three sittings feeling somewhat anxious to see what happened next.

Disclosure : this book is from my personal library.

  4. I totally agree with your review. I liked it...maybe not quite as much as you but I like it. And I liked it WAY more that the cover led me to think that I would. The cover does the book a disservice IMHO.
