I found out at The Book Resort that Dorothea Benton Frank, one of my favorite authors, has a new book coming out June 15th titled Low Country Summer, the sequel to Plantation. I'm so looking forward to it. Diane did a great interview with Dorothea so if you didn't catch it, please visit.

If you have never read Dorothea's books before, you have been really missing something special. You might want to start with Plantation. Here's a little blurb about Plantation from Goodreads; Caroline Wimbley Levine always swore she'd never go home again. But now, at her brother's behest, she has returned to South Carolina to see about Mother - only to find that the years have not changed the Queen of Tall Pines Plantation. Miss Lavinia is as maddeningly eccentric as ever - and absolutely will not suffer the questionable advice of her children. This does not surprise Caroline. Nor does the fact that Tall Pines is still brimming with scandals and secrets, betrayals and lies. But she soon discovers that something is different this time around. It lies somewhere in the distance between her and her mother - and in her understanding of
what it means to come home...
Ah ha, got you intrigued now, I bet! For a complete list of Dorothea's books, visit her website.

How exciting!! I'm a long time fan of Frank's writing, and I was so excited to meet her in person at BEA last May. That said, I can't believe I didn't know she had a new book out!
ReplyDeleteI love finding out that a favorite author is writing a sequel! (Don't love actually waiting for the sequel :)
ReplyDeleteNice find! Mine is over here!
Plantation sounds really good. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteMy Friday Find is at The Crowded Leaf. I'm also seeing if anyone would be intersted in an Alice Hoffman challenge!
Oooh, I need to get this for my Literary Road Trip.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this author's work either. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI love Southern fiction, particularly about the Low Country, and I have been interested in trying one of her books but haven't yet. Thanks for sharing this. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteHere are my Friday Finds.
I haven't read this author yet but I passed on one of her books from my TBR shelf to my Mom and she loved it so I definitely want to read one of her books.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, guess I should read Plantation first. Very pretty cover on this one. I've read others by Frank but not this series. I take it Plantation is quite good?
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with her when I read Sullivan's Island on a trip to South Carolina. I've been working my way through, but haven't had as much love as I did for the first one. I liked Plantation, though, so I'd read the sequel.
ReplyDeleteGotta check her out!
