Trees may grow in Brooklyn but they fall down in Florida!

A few weeks ago the weather radio started squawking and tornado warnings were announced for Podunk and the surrounding areas. Generally, it's just noise and a little rain and wind. This time even on the t.v. weather channel, it said we could be in for some strong gusts of wind. No sooner than the announcer said that, I heard a large thump. Oh, oh, hope it's not that big dead pine tree just about on the lot line on the neighbor's vacant lot .

It was! Landed in our front yard. Sheesh, it figures! . . but thankfully it didn't hit the house or my holly tree!

TBG went out and measured the tree which turned out to be 65 feet long. That's a lotta tree!! If it went the other way it would have taken out my master bath. Phew! One less thing to worry about now that it's gone although it seems as though it's always something, isn't it?

  1. You guys were lucky indeed. Fallen trees and limbs seem to be a secondary hazard for those Southern thunderstorms!

  2. Wow lucky nothing was damaged what a big tree! Our city is still cleaning up trees after a recent cyclone near miss.

  3. Yikes! Glad the tree fell away from your house, and that you came through the storms otherwise unscathed. Looks like we're in for some of that stormy weather up here this weekend.

  9. You are very lucky! 65 ft! Huge! We had a Nor'easter last March, and two of our trees went down on power lines, we had live wires and no electricity for over a week, it was pretty scary with the wires! So glad you're all fine! And good you don't have to worry about that tree now.

  14. Holy Cow!!! We had hail last Sunday in Wisconsin that was huge but thankfully no damage that we can see yet. Hubby needs to get up on the roof. We have a storm headed for us last night too that was supposed to have softball sized hail and it missed us by about 20 miles, so we had just a nice rain.
