Saturday Snapshot: A travesty!

Snapshot Saturday is hosted by Alyce of At Home with Books. To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

In this beautiful, pristine setting it is disturbing to see that someone would just leave a brown bottle on the rocks. I imagine even the gull is disgusted! Whoever the litterbug is, they should be ashamed!

  1. I agree with you! I pick things like that up when I can, but it looks like that one was too far out.

  2. Beautiful shot, well, except for the litter. You know, people are just kind of pigs, I've decided. They just leave things where it is convenient for them - which is a lot of times not where the trash bin is located. The water is so very blue. Lovely.

  3. Every time I see something like this my blood boils! We are stewards of our land and some of us do a pretty crappy job!! The shot however is very very cool!!

  4. It is a gorgeous shot. Sadly, some people just don't care about the environment.....sad

  5. I so agree! And glass is especially hazardous too.

  6. I love that gull on the rocks. This week I showed my class the original PSA ad for Earth Day. Do you remember the native American in the canoe gliding down to the factories and trash? We've come a long way since then.

  8. I enjoy picking up litter like that. Well, enjoy, might be a strong word, but its the right thing to do.

  9. I always think of that cartoon Penguin movie that came out a year or so ago where the penguin is stuck in one of those plastic pop things that hold them together.

It drives me nuts when people litter.

  10. I agree that it is a lovely shot, except for the bottle. People really need to stop doing that kind of stuff!

  12. It is a beautiful picture minus the bottle. My son has participated in beach cleanups here and you don't even want to know about the stuff he has cleaned up on the beach. Not sure why someone would want to mess up something so beautiful.

  13. That's a nice social commentary shot! :) When we were in Hawaii there was a newspaper article about all of the trash that washes ashore from the garbage swirling in the Pacific. It's horrifying to think of all of the trash in the world.

  14. Very nice picture--lovely blue contrasting with the white gull. Except for the bottle. It would be nice if everyone would follow the Boy Scout's Outdoor Code: Leave no trace and leave every space better than you found it. One of the best things my son learned in scouting. He's always picking up stuff and throwing it away....

  16. That's a great shot. It's appalling the amount of litter you see everywhere and I always shudder at glass on the beach.

  17. Nice picture - it seems there are two kinds of people: the ones who would never litter and the ones who don't give it a thought.

  18. Sadly some people don't give it thought and toss trash everywhere. The gull does look like he wants to pick that up and fly it over to a recycle bin!

  19. How selfish! Some people have no appreciation for nature and other people's enjoyment of it. There wasn't a message in that bottle though, was there:)

  20. Great shot. It's a shame about the bottle.
