Wordless (sort of) Wednesday

Do teens no longer talk to each other at all? Is it all texting or THIS?  Here's how a girl asked my grandson to go to the prom.  If she's waiting for him to bake a cake to answer- it will be a long time! I don't think the kitchen in my daughter's house gets too much use. (other than microwaving popcorn!)

  1. I love that! I think it's very cute, plus he gets a cake! If he won't go with her, she can ask me! :--)

  2. Still I guess it's better than sending him a text. They say the way to a man's heart is his stomach. :)

  3. wait, doesn't she get the cake? It seems the least that he could do.

  4. It is kind of cute but still, it seems kids text each other even when they're in the same room. the art of conversation is dying.

  5. It seems that they have to do something dramatic for prom dates these days.

  6. Well, they say a way to a man's/boy's heart is through his stomach…

    I'm old-fashioned … isn't the boy supposed to ask?

    Did he say yes?

  10. haha, I love it. It's kinda smart if you think about it. It shows she can be creative, get her message across, and if all else fails she's willing to bribe with sweets.

  13. It is cute -- but I know what you mean about texting even when in the same room.

  14. That was a cute idea - but don't even get me going about texting. Even my daughter, who is a very young thirty, can't believe in the amount of texting going on. It's crazy!

  15. Love it! Nice to see a teen embrace something in the real world. My daughter and her friends are so attached to their phones, I doubt they could set them down long enough to even bake (much less frost) a cake! :D

  20. That's funny. I remember those dreaded things you had to do to ask someone. Why could you just ask? I remember my aunt being asked to a dance and she made me (I was age 10) take a jar filled with jelly beans to his door to give him her answer.

If there was more reds it was yes, if there was more blue it was no. She put exactly the same number of jelly beads. 1 hour later she made me take a cake that said yes on it. Kind of funny.

  23. Oh my, this is too cute and too funny. Whenever I go out I just laugh to see all the teens with their phones either texting or talking. Things were sure different in my day. So, did he say yes?

  24. When my daughter was in high school, one of the girls did the same thing; however, she made the mistake of giving the cake to a young, handsome teacher who all the girls were in love with. He, of course said, "No."
