Snapshot Saturday is hosted by Alyce of At Home with Books. To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.
One more bird (great blue heron) photo that needed to be taken with a better zoom. *sigh* I guess I should be buying a lottery ticket. Anyway, I liked the stillness of the water and the reflection in this one too.
I love the bird pictures and I hear you about the camera. One of these days I will buy a better one!
ReplyDeleteIs it a heron? I'm with you on the camera. My pics are usually from my phone.
ReplyDeleteThat bird is so majestic!
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of shots of herons just like that. If you get too close, they fly away.
ReplyDeleteKaye, I'm with you. A lottery win is the only way I'll get a better camera. This is a great photo though. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteIt's a very painterly shot. I like the stillness of the water and the reflections. I know you were focusing on the bird but the best part is the water.
ReplyDeleteThe photo turned out great! I am with you on the camera, but I would continue to forget to take it along I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great shot, even without a longer lens!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The reflections are eerily gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHere's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT
I think it's a good shot - there's a lot of detail and the bird is almost hidden until you see the reflection. And you can really see the stillness in the photo.
ReplyDeleteHe's almost camouflaged in there! Great photo today!
ReplyDeleteThat is very pretty! Bird photos can be so difficult.
ReplyDeleteThe Great Blue Herons are such cool birds. They just stand there so majestic like they are part of the scenery.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful job you did. Gorgeous bird.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! It makes me think of A Solitary Blue by Cynthia Voigt, one of my favorite books.
ReplyDeleteVery sharp reflection. Seems like he wants you to take his/her photo. Nice.
ReplyDeleteA thought ... I bought my Nikon D50used. It was a fraction of the price ... if you look around on Ebay or even better, talk with a camera shop/photo shop person there may be someone ready to upgrade who wants to unload their model... and that model may be in your budget and perfect for you.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain though with shooting when you really do need to 'zoom' ... and with blue herons you need a zoom... the skittish shy creatures ....!
Wonder if that's "our" heron gone south for the winter ;-)
ReplyDeleteLoved the bird pics!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Saturday
Snapshot post!
I never seem to get close enough to birds to take decent pics of them - this one is great! I especially like the reflection.
ReplyDeleteWe have a beautiful blue heron near us, but every time I stop to take a photo, he gets camera-shy and takes off.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lonely looking--though beautiful--photo!
ReplyDeleteYou always post such beautiful photos! And amazing birds!
ReplyDeleteThere are many cameras now that are smaller in size but have large screens and decent zoom lenses. It sure would be a great gift idea for children who are looking for a gift idea for St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, etc. for a wonderful mom who lives in Florida. Hey, I'm just saying....
:)
Once you start photographing birds, all you do is want for a bigger/better lens!
ReplyDeleteOr keep droppping massive hints about "wish I had a zoom" on your blog and leaving them open for family members to see and maybe you'll get one as a gift!
ReplyDeleteI love birds and the heron is among my favorite. They have such a unique ability to be unnoticed in reeds and such. For one thing, they stand still for so long!
ReplyDeleteI love eagles, sandpipers, robins, and toucans. But enough about me.
This picture is a beauty!
Oh yes...... and of course.......... PENGUINS!
ReplyDeleteHow could I forget!
I beg to differ, that is a lovely shot of the bird and the stillness. I have tried different times to snap pictures of birds, but they always find me out and fly away.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit today.
This is a great photo Kaye! I did buy a new camera but with the snow I haven't taken it outside and have just been using my old one. lol.
ReplyDeleteIt is a grand reflection!
ReplyDeleteI love herons! NIce capture.
