Saturday snapshot

Snapshot Saturday is hosted by Alyce of At Home with Books. To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Now that's a library!! I had to practically cross the street to get it all in.  In 2011 they were in the process of building and while we were on the cape (cod) we didn't go see it. This year we knew it would be finished so thought we would at least drive by as it is close to the condo we stay in every year. After seeing the size of it, we had to go in and check it out.  I think our little Podunk library is smaller than the first floor one side of this beauty.

When I hit the lottery, I am so outta here! *sigh*

  1. Kaye, I'm with you. I am waiting for the lottery to go somewhere else! Nice library though.

  3. I do love a great library. My first library in childhood was one-half of a building that also contained the post office!

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

  4. The bldg. looks monumental. I'd be curious to see the inside of it too. Maybe next Sat. Snapshot? ;)

  5. Now those folks know how to build a library! I can't complain about my town library though. For a small town we have a beautiful building. It was built during the 90s when money was flowing and bond issues were easily approved. It would never get built today.

  6. Next time you visit you'll have to get some inside pics. I'd love to see it!

  10. It looks so beautiful! And that's just the outside! I can't even imagine what the inside looks like.

We have an old, beautiful library here and it's a local landmark. Marble and hand-carved wood shipped from Italy, french doors to a back terrace, a cupola, a theater... *sigh* I'm there at least once a week. I have a few photos but I need to take a lot more because I've been wanting to do a post on it. The family that started it 100 years ago sent up an endowment fund to keep it going and we've been very lucky to have it!

  11. That is beautiful. They replace my childhood town library with a massive beauty in the last 10 years. MA does have lots of beautiful libraries.

  12. We just got a brand new library in our little town...and an adjoining community center...all paid for by private funds :) Ours would be tiny compared to this but our previous libary was no more than a closet :( I love looking at pictures of libraries :)

  13. It's a lovely building. The library where I live is a horrid boxy concrete affair. My Saturday Snapshot post is at http://goo.gl/ou72V

  16. That is pretty big--and pretty unusual for this day and age where it seems everything and everyone is downsizing. Great photo!

  17. What a beautiful library! Wouldn't it be fun if we all posted pictures of our hometown libraries one Saturday?

  18. Wow...I do love a big sprawling library. Though I rather love my little neighborhood libraries too. And I get around the limited selection by requesting lots of books, and then I just go to the nearby little library to pick them up.

  19. What town is this in? I need to go see it. There are 2 new beautiful libraries on my drive to work. MA communities seem to be embracing their libraries lately.
