Death of only brother
Labels: personal story
Sorry I have not been visiting or commenting on any blogs for a while now. My older and only brother passed away Sunday, 09/02/12. With heavy hearts on Monday, (our 46th wedding anniversary) TBG and I got into the car and started driving the 1300 miles north for funeral services and family visit. It's devastating to lose a family member and it is really hard to be so far away. My nieces and nephews were heartbroken at losing their dad just before two major events in their family - a birth and a wedding. My heart goes out to them. As special as a brother is, a dad is one of the most important, influential persons in anyone's life.
My sister-in-law did a wonderful job planning the service, especially paying tribute to his veteran status as a Green Beret, Army Special Forces member. It was very moving to see the honor guard and flag ceremony while taps were played. Though many tears were shed, we all felt very proud of him.
It's so hard to realize that I am now the only "child" left in our original family. I pray he is reunited with our sister, Jane, who we lost so many years ago. Rest in peace, big "brudda" from your "bratty kid sister."
I love you!
