I've posted pics of these gopher tortoises before but this one has to be the largest one we've seen. Bringing out the recycling bin I saw him right on my front walk. I couldn't believe it. Normally they pull their heads in rapidly if we even start to approach. This guy was fearless!

Awesome! And it's good to see you back in the blogosphere....thanks for visiting my blog today. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laurel! It was fun getting back to Sat snapshot. Hope your weekend is awesome.
DeleteWow! Like a visitor from prehistoric times!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a big tortoise (or at least he looks big from the pictures)! I can't believe he was on your front walk!!
ReplyDeleteHere is my SATURDAY SNAPSHOT post.
Ha, love this guy :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a surprise like that in my yard. Though I might get a little freaked out at first. The best thing about it is that you didn't have to worry about not getting your camera fast enough. Lol.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! How big is it? I suppose its speed gives you the advantage of going back in the house, getting your camera, and coming back out to take these closeup shots. ;)
ReplyDeleteHe gave me plenty of time to get back in the house, grab the camera and alert TBG to come outside. I just read some interesting facts about these tortoises. This one was quite large and had to be a really mature one. They can live up to 100 years. Fascinating!

ReplyDeleteGreat captions♫ Have a great week-end♥ Thanks for commenting on my blog!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a nice surprise at the front door!
ReplyDeleteWow! He is so big!
ReplyDeleteNice seeing you again! =)
How fabulous to see a tortoise like that. He does look quite big.
ReplyDeleteGreat snapshots. I love pictures of wildlife, don't know how wild the tortoise is but he was out for a day on the town. Hope he had a fun time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit, and glad to see you are back. Have a great week.
You have to wonder how old he is.
ReplyDeleteI wonder old your visitor is? I love the big tortoises. I lived in the San Diego area for a few years and the zoo there had a nice enclosure of tortoises. The wall of the enclosure was low so you could get close to them. They are interesting creatures!
ReplyDeleteI guess he was big enough that he didn't need to hide from anyone. I can't imagine seeing these guys around my house. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteWow! He's impressive! Looks like you might have a new house guest. Terrific photos! :)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look like he's afraid of anything, does it? Awesome photos!
ReplyDeleteLove the one of his cute little butt...lol
ReplyDeleteHow cute!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! He was pretty ambitious!!
ReplyDeleteHa! That large he probably figured he had the right of way! Cool shots!
