Terrific mystery series by P.J. Parrish

From good reads:

A deep freeze is bearing down on the Florida Everglades, the kind of brutal storm the locals call a killing rain. For Detective Louis Kincaid, the coldest night of the year has brought a terrifying new chill- a grisly discovery that tightens his every nerve in warning........

The body proves this is no routine case. It's the start of a nightmare. & When the killer chooses his next victim, theres no doubt the detective is matching wits with a predator who is as ruthless as they come.

Now with time running out, Kincaid is on a desperate hunt of his own, tracking a twisted adversary one step away from committing the ultimate horror

This is one series TBG and I really enjoy.  The main character, Louis Kincaid, is one strong, ethical individual. He has some childhood baggage that occasionally he still struggles with but it doesn't get in the way of his doing the job. He started out with a small sheriff's department and is now a P.I. in Florida.

I got book 8 as a kindle freebie and liked it so much, I started the series from book one. If that first book doesn't hook you, I don't know what will. I swear I had heart palpitations!

I'm about 2/3 of the way through A Killing Rain (bk #6) and loving it. If you're in the mood for a really well written, strongly plotted mystery, look no further than P.J. Parrish's Louis Kincaid series.

  2. Hi Kaye,

Nice review of this book, although you are 'preaching to the converted' about this series and its creators.

I have read and reviewed book nine in the series 'South Of Hell' and would like nothing better than to fill in some of the gaps, by starting the series from the beginning.... Maybe one day.

I also like the character of Louis Kincaid and it would be good to track his development, since the first book was published way back in 1999. It is also good to look at the way that police procedures and investigative techniques have advanced, when you have such a span of years between books and the main protagonist is the one constant in them all.

Glad that you have found another great series to enjoy and thanks for piquing my interest anew.

    Yvonne
