Saturday Snapshot: One more oldie!

Snapshot Saturday is hosted by Alyce of At Home with Books. To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

Another family oldie. This one is my grandmother Carrie, again, with my father (Russell), his brother Winnie and their sister Edith. From the looks of them, I would say my dad, who is the oldest of the three, was about 10 or 11 which would make my uncle 8 or 9 years old. My aunt was about 5 or so in this photo. The collar on my uncle's shirt almost makes him look like Eddie Munster- all he needs is the widow's peak hairdo.

Looks like the love of reading is passed down through the generations. I guess the apple didn't fall too far from the tree.

  1. That is a wonderful photo. So many times the people in older photos are so stoic it's hard to capture their personality.

  2. A natural and interesting shot, although it's posed, is enjoyable to look at.

  11. A like this a lot. Looks like it was done by a photographer ahead of his/her times. Almost all of the old family photos I have show very serious, unsmiling people, even at happy occasions like weddings.

  12. You made me laugh with the Eddie Munster comparison! I wouldn't have noticed it, but after you pointed it out it was easy to see the similarity. :)

  21. I just love this!! I wish you could use it in your header. I love that they are all entranced in a book!!!!!! I imagine it was a big thing to get your photo taken back then so to have everyone reading a book and not looking at the camera really says something.
